Olympic Project: Japan

Opening Ceremony, Japanese Flag
Team Japan

Japan participates in both the summer and winter Olympic game
My favorite summer Olympic event is baseball because I get to watch players from all over the world play. It is fun for me to watch players other than the Cardinals battle on the field. I would like to play baseball in the summer Olympics someday.
My favorite winter Olympic event is bobsledding because of the speed. The athletes can go down a hill at 90 miles per hour. They risk their lives because they love the sport so much. The bobsledders also have to work as a team.

My country has won 116 gold medals in the summer and 9 in the winter for a total of 125.
My country has won 103 silver medals in the summer and 13 in the winter for a total of 116.
My country has won 128 bronze medals in the summer and 15 in the winter for a total of 143.
The most recent winter Olympic games were in Vancouver. The next will be in Sochi, Kransnodar, Russia.
The most recent summer Olympic games were in Beijing. The next will be in London, United Kingdom.
Japan has hosted the Olympics 3 times. These games happened in Nagano, Japan in 1998, Sapporo, Japan in 1972, and Tokyo, Japan in 1964.
Two of the most famous athletes of Japan are Ichiro Suzuki, a baseball player, and Kei Nishikori, a tennis player.

GUIDELINES:

Jack Hylla

1. The physical attributes needed to be successful in shot put include great upper body strength. You need this strength to throw the shot put very far. You should use a workout with power and endurance to get the lower body in shape. You should also work on your core muscles to get the power you need to launch.

2. Athletes training for great performance at shot put should follow a certain diet. They should eat carbs like pasta and not just protein. This is important because when you build muscle it lessens your muscle glycogen stores. Protein recommendations for strength training are 0.5 to 0.8 grams per pound.

3. The three most common shot put injuries are muscle or ligament sprain in the shoulder and arm, abdominal wall strain, and muscle sprains in the leg.

4. The five aspects of health apply to a person competing in shot put in several ways. It is emotional for a person to go through tough training and give up other things in their lives. It is mental because a person must focus to perform their best. It is physical because an athlete must train for months and months to have the strength to throw the shot put. It is social because athletes compete against other people in shot put. A little health competition is good every once in a while.

5. Bob Garrett won two medals in the shot put. He won the gold medal for the USA in 1896. He also won the bronze medal for the USA in 1900. Leo Sexton won the gold medal for the USA in shot put in 1932. Christian Cantwell won the silver medal in shot put for the USA in 2008.

· You MUST cite at least TWO SOURCES IN PARAGRAPH II, III and IV.
· Prepare a Works Cited page.

Introduction—You MUST include 3 because clauses and you must use action verbs.
Use this format for PARAGRAPH II, PARAGRAPH III, AND PARAGRAPH IV

Wiki Math Olympic Pentathlon Event

Estimate what your distance will be in each event.
Perform the event and measure your distance.
Find your margin of error by subtracting the actual from the estimate.
Find your percent of error by dividing the error by the actual and then multiplying by 100.
Post your results using this chart on your Wiki page.
